ONE FINAL STEP – by Karen L. Rittmeyer – Page 34

That night that we walked into the future / Is now a memory in our minds, / A memory filled with cherished moments / We may never again be able to find.

You see, the past was then behind us / A we crossed the stage with care. / We knew we’d remember those four years, / That we made so special and so rare.

We gave the past one last thought / And then returned to that present night, / As each of us stepped one step closer / Toward our future that was just in sight.

We were walking from the present / Toward our future life just ahead. / The present was about to become the past / As toward the future we were being led.

And each of us took one final step / Then leaving that moment behind, / We became a part of that future / We had traveled so far to find.
