Friday Night Fever – Page 14

Hoosier Hysteria, that feeling of excitement which surrounds every basketball contest, was a typical Titan emotion nearly every weekend. The anticipation, like a fever, began building early in the week, and by Friday, it reached its climax as the tip-off of each "big" game took place.

Titan spirit started growing early in the fall, as senior Tony Ashley organized a boys’ cheerblock of eighty members. They became a very vocal part of each home game.

The band, Flag Corps, and Titanettes added to the excitement as they presented well-rehearsed halt-time performances and backed up the cheerleaders on special cheers.

After the game was almost as important as the game itself when students converged upon the Tillotson Avenue McDonald’s, the traditional post-game hangout.

Whether it was a game with city rival Central, or the all-important Sectional, students found the the Walnut Street Fieldhouse was the perfect place to wrap up a long week.
